I Am Fully Vaccinated…Do I Still Need To Wear Mask?

I Am Fully Vaccinated…Do I Still Need To Wear Mask?

CDC that is Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has revised their guidelines. In their new guidelines they have recommended that people who are fully vaccinated against the COVID-19, can resume a number of activities that they were not allowed or prohibited due to COVID-19 spread in their community.

They have relaxed the requirement to wear mask for those who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19, however they still recommends wearing mask in certain high-risk situation.

Here’s what a fully vaccinated person against COVID-19, needs to know about when, where, and why they may need to continue to wear a mask.

First, Who Are Considered As Fully Vaccinated……

A person is considered fully vaccinated only if he/she has taken both the doses of the COVID vaccine that to with the optimal or recommended gap between both the doses.

If a person is vaccinated with the first dose of COVISHEILD, then he will be considered as fully vaccinated only after he receives his second dose that to after 6-8 weeks optimal gap.

If a person is vaccinated with the first dose of COVAXIN, then he will be considered as fully vaccinated only after he receives his second dose that to after 4-6 weeks optimal gap.

It’s also important to note that, if you have any medical condition or you are taking any medication that weakens your immune system, you’re not considered to be fully protected even if you’re fully vaccinated. In this case, you need to continue to wear a mask in all situations.

Do consult your physician if in case you have any confusion regarding whether you are fully vaccinated or not.

When And Where Should You Wear A Mask?

Even if you are fully vaccinated against COVID-19, experts suggest there are certain places or certain situation where it would be best if you continue wearing your mask.

Like if you are at a crowded area or surrounded by a large gathering, where you don’t know about who is vaccinated and who is not, it’s good for you to continue wearing your mask.

Although reports and studies suggest that a fully vaccinated person is unlikely to transmit the virus if infected, instead it has recommended them to wear mask if they spend a good time with high-risk or immunocompromised individuals.

Some specific locations where you must wear a mask:

  • Any indoor environment where you’re around people who may not be vaccinated or who are not from your own household.
  • At a place where it’s impossible to maintain a safe social distance.
  • Public places like office, school, planes, restaurants, grocery stores, or other retail establishments.

Why A Fully Vaccinated Need To Continue Masking?

Experts say that the prominent public goal is to limit the transmission of the COVID-19 infection at a population level and getting vaccinated is one of those strategies prepared for achieving this goal.

That means alone vaccination is not enough to lower down the transmission of COVID-19 infection at community level, although it has a major role, thus we must all continue to wear masks indoors.

You might be confused as it was stated in research and reports that a vaccinated individual is well protected. However, there are good reasons why experts recommend even a fully vaccinated person to continue wearing mask.

They say, there’s a small chance, in the range of 4 to 5 percent, that a vaccinated person could still become sick and be able to transmit the virus to someone else.

Further, they also advice that its hard to figure out who is fully vaccinated and who is not, at a public place or place with large gatherings. Thus, loosening your masking guidelines at such places might create a confusion among other people. There are chances that people who are not vaccinated may consider after seeing you that they also need no longer to wear mask. So, simply continue to wear mask, it will not only protect you but also the community around you.

Let Us Conclude!

Although CDC has relaxed its recommendations for mask wearing among fully vaccinated people, masking strategies is still important to follow to protect people around you.

You should continue to wear masks in indoor locations, crowded areas, and places with people outside your household whose vaccination status is unknown. Do continue wearing your mask if you often come in contact with people who are high risk or immunocompromised.
