Do’s And Don’ts Must Follow As You Take The COVID Vaccine!

The COVID-19 vaccination drive started in India on 16th January 2021, and till date more than 20 crore people have been vaccinated with eth first dose of COVID vaccine. After getting vaccinated, many people reported with no adverse or side effect, while some recipients have reported some side-effects or mild illness.

Experts says, experiencing side effects after getting vaccinated is normal, and if you do not experience any side-effect, this is also normal. Both these cases, however, have no relation with the quality or efficacy of the vaccine, and obviously these shing should not stop one from getting their shot.

Doctors and health experts recommend that both the vaccine being administered in India, Bharat Biotech’s Covaxin and Serum Institute of India’s Covisheild, a version of the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine, are safe and may lead to minor side effects in some people. This is absolutely normal.

Well, here are some points you must know and precaution you may take before getting vaccinated as advised by the experts:

If You Are Allergic…….

If you are allergic to any kind of medicine or drug, then you must get an all-clear report from a medical practitioner. A complete blood count (CBC), C-reactive protein (CRP), or Immunoglobulin-E (IgE) levels can be checked under medical advice.

Eat Well And Take Your Medicines………

It is advised to eat well and take your medicine, if any prescribed before getting vaccinated. The most important thing is, keep yourself calm and relaxed, if getting anxious seek help from counselling.

Do You Have Any Comorbidity?

If you are diabetic or a blood pressure patient, it is advised keep checking your sugar level or blood pressure measure on intervals. Try maintaining them in control. For cancer patients, specially those who are undergoing chemotherapy, kindly consult your doctor before you decide to get your jab.

If You Have Gone Under COVID Treatment…….

If you were a COVID patients and you have received blood plasma or antibodies, as a part of your COVID treatment in the last one and a half months are advised to not take the vaccine right now. Wait for at least 3 month after you get completely recovered from COVID, only then go for your jab.

There are a few things that you must know and follow after you receive your COVID vaccine.

Monitoring Is Done At The Centre……..

Monitoring facility is arranged at every vaccination centre. A recipient of the vaccine is monitored to guard against any immediate severe allergic reaction. They are allowed to leave only after it has been ascertained that this is not the case.

Side Effects And Pain Is Normal………

Side effects like pain at the injection site and fever are common. This is no reason to panic. Some other side effects like chills and fatigue might also be expected, but these go away in a few days.

What You Need To Understand About The Vaccines?

Vaccines make our immune system learn how to recognize and fight an external threat, in case of COVID vaccine, our immune system learn to fight with the virus that causes COVID-19. Normally, it takes a few weeks after you get vaccinated for the body to build protection (immunity) against the virus.

That means you still need to follow precautionary measure to protect yourself against COVID, as there are chances, a person could still get infected by Covid-19 in the few days immediately following the vaccination.

So, it is must to wear face masks, wash your hands regularly, and maintain physical distance from other while you are at public places, even after you are vaccinated against COVID-19. If you have not taken your COVID shot, then get it soon, if you have got your first shot then do ensure that you get your second shot at right time.
